11 Most Powerful Foods That Boost Testosterone Levels

You can tell a lot about a man just by looking around his kitchen…

Not at the granite counter tops, or the cupboards that he clearly widdled for his wife as an anniversary present…

But at what he has inside those cupboards…

And refrigerator…

And so on.

The bottom line is that you can tell a lot about a man by the food that he eats.

And you can bet that if his kitchen is filled with the foods that I’ll mention in this list, he’s got some darn good testosterone levels.

See, your food choices develop the foundation of your testosterone levels…

And whether the foundation is cracked or not depends on what you’re eating.

Now I’ve already created the best testosterone boosting foods manual on the planet, called,97 Science-Backed Foods That Boost Testosteronewhich you check out for yourself here.

It’s got all the foods that you need to get on your grocery list today, as well as all of the foods that you need to stay away from if you’re going to take your testosterone to the next level…

And I know there are plenty of foods on that list that are going to come as a big shocker to you.

But for now, I’m going to give you an appetizer…

Here are the 11 most powerful foods that boost testosterone levels.

1. Potatoes

Literally, any kind of potato will do…

Except for the ones that you can pick up at the local fast food joint.

Potatoes are an excellent testosterone boosting food that you need to get your hands on.

See, potatoes are a gluten-free carbohydrate source…

And despite what fad diets are telling men, we need carbohydrates if we’re going to have healthy testosterone levels…

It’s really that simple.

One study, published in Life Sciences, measured the testosterone levels of men on a high carbohydrate diet compared to men on a low carbohydrate diet…

The results concluded that the testosterone levels of the men on the high carbohydrate diet were consistently higher than those on a low carbohydrate diet.

So don’t play hot potato at the grocery store anymore…that is unless you’re trying to see how fast you can shovel them into your shopping cart.

They’re affordable, diverse (you can have potatoes with just about any meal) and are packed with anywhere from 35-50 testosterone-boosting carbohydrates making potatoes essential on any list of foods that boost testosterone levels.

2. White Rice

I can hear it now…

“Wait, wait, wait… Don’t you mean brown rice?”

No.

White rice.

If you flip through any bodybuilding magazine, online fitness publication, or listen to any conversation from a pseudo-nutrition expert at the office, you’ll get the notion that white rice is bad for you and brown rice is good for you…

Well, not for your testosterone levels it’s not.

Now, while rice bran (prevalent in brown rice) won’t directly lower your testosterone levels, research published in the Journal of Supercritical Fluids found that rice bran is a potent 5-a reductase enzyme blocker…

In English, this means that brown rice blocks the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone – the most powerful form of testosterone in your body.

I go into more detail in my 97 Science-Backed Foods That Boost Testosterone on the brown rice lie. Check it out here.

White rice, however, doesn’t contain rice bran, and therefore won’t have the same disastrous effect on your testosterone levels.

White rice is another carbohydrate that’s cheap, easy to make and goes well with just about any meal.

3. Spinach

You can’t separate spinach and Popeye the Sailor Man…

Dude had massive forearms, never lost a street fight, evoked manliness on a whole different level, and he always got the girl…

His secret?

Eating spinach from a can.

Okay, okay. I know he’s a fictional cartoon character, but the spinach theme is still true for your testosterone levels.

how-to-get-rid-of-gynecomastia-naturally

Spinach gets its green color from chlorophyll, a natural estrogen blocker

By keeping estrogen where it should be in your bloodstream, you’ll naturally increase your testosterone levels.

Spinach is also jam-packed with natural nitrates, which make your blood vessels larger and increases nitric oxide production (a winning combination for strong erections and more morning wood).

So not did spinach make Popeye the man in front of the camera, but off camera as well, if you know what I mean.

Anyways, I’m done with the Popeye references.

Spinach can do the same for you, too.

I know that a leafy green isn’t a food most guys get excited about, but this one is essential to any list of foods that boost testosterone levels.

Make it a staple in any power salad you make for yourself.

4. Pomegranate (or pomegranate juice)

Pomegranate juice can literally give your sex life a lift.

A study, published in the International Journal of Impotence Research found that drinking 8 ounces of POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice daily may help you management erectile dysfunction.

Here’s how the study was conducted…

A randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, pilot study examined the efficacy of pomegranate juice versus a placebo in improving erections in 61 male participants.

And the ground rules for each participant were the same: Each participant had mild to moderate ED for at least 3 months, each participant was also in a stable, monogamous relationship with a consenting female partner, and each participant had to be willing to attempt having sex at least once per week during the study period.

For the first four weeks of the study, the subjects would drink 8 oz. of POM Wonderful Pomegranate Juice or 8 oz. of placebo beverage daily with dinner or shortly afterward and at the end of each 4-week period, the participants took a questionnaire to determine its effectiveness.

47% of the participants reported their erections improved with POM Wonderful Pomegranate Juice, while only 32% reported improved erections with the placebo.

Researchers believe the positive results from the POM Wonderful Pomegranate Juice may be from the potent antioxidant content of pomegranate juice, which can prevent free radical molecules from disrupting blood flow.

According to other studies, pomegranate juice also increases testosterone levels by 24%, which makes a swig of this stuff a go-to before bed.

5. Bananas

Bananas are a must-have on this list of foods that boost testosterone levels

Why?

Well, the “Snicker’s Bar” of fruits is tasty, cheap and it’s also packed with testosterone-boosting benefits.

Bananas contain bromelain, an enzyme that helps your body recover after a workout and keeps your testosterone levels from dipping after a workout (which they’re prone to do by the way)…

In one study, conducted by the University of Tasmania, 15 elite cyclists had their testosterone levels measured on 3 of 6 consecutive days of racing.

7 of the 15 men were given a 1,000mg bromelain supplement while the others were given a placebo…

The result showed a dip in the cyclists in the placebo group, which was to be expected…

However, when it came to the bromelain group (sounds like a surf-rock band name), researchers discovered that their testosterone levels remained constant throughout all 6 days of racing.

6 days of racing…

No drop in testosterone levels…

Talk about an anabolic advantage!

6. Grass-Fed Beef

We couldn’t have a list of foods that boost testosterone levels without some meat.

After all, the meat of your T-boosting diet is going to be the meat itself.

And what better place to start than with beef?

Grass-fed beef, that is.

Have you ever heard the phrase, “you are what you eat?”

Well, that’s only partially true…

You are what you eat, eats, too…

what-foods-boost-testosterone

When you start eating grain-fed beef, which, you likely are if you’re mindlessly grabbing slabs of ground beef from the grocery store, you’re likely ingesting the soy and corn and hormones that the cow ate as well, which eliminates the nutritional value of the beef.

However, Grass-fed beef is packed with omega-3 fatty acids and saturated fats, both of which are advantageous to your anabolic hormones.

Also, grass-fed beef contains 4x more vitamin K2 than grain-fed, 5x more omega-3’s, and 2x times more CLA. Grass-fed also contains more vitamin A, more B vitamins, more potassium, more zinc, and more phosphorus, all of which work to boost your overall health and testosterone levels.

So don’t settle for just any cow…

Make sure it’s grass fed before you put it on the grill.

7. Whole Eggs

Stop only eating egg whites…

You’re missing out on everything you need to take your testosterone to the next level.

Eggs aren’t only high in testosterone-boosting omega-3 fatty acids like beef is.

They’re also rich in HDL cholesterol – the good cholesterol that your body needs in order to produce testosterone.

In a study conducted with over 3,500 men, both HDL cholesterol and testosterone levels were measured…

The study found a direct correlation to the amount of cholesterol one had in his bloodstream and the amount of testosterone his body produced.

Eggs are easily one of the most powerful foods that boost testosterone levels because, well, they have ingredients that build testosterone…

Luckily, eggs are inexpensive and incredibly diverse…

You can eat them for breakfast, put them in a salad for lunch, or even enjoy them before bed so that you’ll give your balls plenty of cholesterol to turn into testosterone while you sleep.

Buy a couple dozen today…

Consider it an egg-celent investment for your testosterone.

8. Salmon

If you like to eat fish, there are no other fish in the sea when it comes to boosting your T…

Salmon.

That’s your girl.

Salmon is full of magnesium, vitamin B, and omega-3 fatty acids, all of which boost testosterone levels…

In fact, a study published by Biological Trace Element Research concluded that magnesium increases both the amount of free testosterone and overall testosterone in men.

Which could also be the reason why salmon is known to block Sex Hormone Binding Globulin, a glycoprotein that attaches itself to your testosterone and makes it ineffective to do what you want your testosterone to do for you…

If you want to check out more about the relationship between your testosterone and SHBG, and why you need to eat more salmon, I wrote an in-depth article on it here.

9. Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Olive oil is one bad (not bad as in bad, but bad as in good) testosterone booster because you can use it on pretty much anything.

Use it to cook your eggs, to add some taste to your salad, even dump a little bit in your baked potato…

Olive oil is your go-to oil on the foods that boost testosterone levels list.

what-foods-boost-testosterone

Research has shown that consuming olive oil can increase your testosterone levels by a whopping 17-19% when you consistently use it for 3 weeks.

10. Brazil Nuts

I want to make this short list of 11 powerful foods that boost testosterone levels as practical as possible for you…

So I’m going to add a snack into the mix.

Brazil nuts are essentially tailor-made for your testosterone health…

They’re stuffed with selenium, an oft-forgotten but essential mineral for boosting testosterone levels.

tim-ferris-testosterone

By eating only 1-2 brazil nuts, you’ll meet your selenium requirements for the day…

That’s right 1 nut or 2 nuts.

Not a handful. Not a cup.

A few Brazil nuts and you’re good to go on selenium for the day.

11. Dark Chocolate

No, not the “special dark” Hershey’s bar…

It’s not dark enough.

I added this one to the list because it’ll boost your testosterone in more of a fun way, all things considered…

Cocoa, especially the raw kind, increases nitric oxide production and lowers blood pressure…

And both of those elements are important for stronger erections and better performance in the bedroom.

There is also evidence of cacao healing the endolethium (the thin layer of cells that lines the interior surface of blood vessels) by increasing the number of cells that repair it.

So basically, a dark chocolate treat, even though it’s a little bitter, can make for a sweet night between the sheets with your lady.

And that itself will boost your testosterone as well.
